Voyageur Curling Club Hosts Foodland Open Bonspiel

Last weekend the Voyageur Curling Club (VCC) hosted their annual Open Bonspiel, the Foodland Open Bonspiel.
	The fun filled Open Bonspiel featuring great curling, social, and food, was held on Friday January 13, 2012, and Saturday January 14, 2012, at the VCC in Mattawa. Sponsors for this year’s Open Bonspiel included Mattawa Foodland, who was the main sponsor of the bonspiel, Moosehead Estates, and Mattawa Country Style.

Mattawa Team Wins NOCA Men’s Regional Playdowns

The home team made Mattawa proud last weekend at the Northern Ontario Curling Association Men’s Regional Playdowns!
	The Northern Ontario Curling Association (NOCA) Men’s Regional Playdowns (Region 5) was held on January 6, 7, and 8, 2012, at the Voyageur Curling Club (VCC) in Mattawa. The home team from Mattawa, Team Gelinas, came out on top, winning all five games. Team Gelinas included team members Skip, Patrick Gelinas, Vice, Art Trudel, Second, Luke Gelinas, and Lead, Louis Gelinas. An interesting family aspect on this team, Patrick is the son of Luke, and Luke is Louis’ brother.
